NOAA ARRA Project

CBCC NOAA-ARRA Watershed Stabilization projects – from 2009 to 2012 accomplished more than $2million dollars worth of local construction projects to correct past stormwater sediment production and erosion problems — and have led to a much bluer Coral Bay. Projects were done in Coral Bay in 18 areas, and by our partners in other areas of the Virgin Islands. Click on the button below to view detailed reports on all the projects and what we learned in the process.
Click on the Posters box to see all the explanatory posters for these projects and learn more about best management practices to curb erosion:
From the bioretention pond on King’s Hill road to the new paving and swales out at Johns Folly…. all 18 project areas delivered 47 new “Best Management Practices” (BMPs) for handling stormwater runoff to Coral Bay. The project reports also provided recommendations for next steps in reducing sediment, and additional grant and neighborhood funded projects are being pursued today by CBCC and its partners.
